We’re enjoying Star Trek: Discovery, and we have good news for everyone else who is enjoying watching the rebellious outer-space-shenanigans of Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green of The Walking Dead).

CBS has just announced today that Star Trek: Discovery has been renewed for a second season.

All the networks (including Netflix) were very interested in being home to the newest addition to the Star Trek franchise, so if it was cancelled after one season, that would have been a major failure.

Thankfully, CBS has done a good job so far, at least engaging non-Trekkies like me in the first 5 episodes. At this point, CBS does not air any other shows I’m interested in watching, so hopefully this is the start of a new trend of higher-quality programming for them.

CBS will air the 9th episode of Star Trek: Discovery on November 12th before going on a fairly brief hiatus, airing the final 6 episodes of Season 1 starting with Episode 7 in January 2018.
