PHOTO BY LUCAS WADE PALMER, FLICKR
Salt flats (or salt plains) are beautiful in their desolation, and are a great photo op for anyone. This one, by Lucas Wade Palmer, however, stood out to me.
The almost-monochrome coloring, soft contrast, and uniformity of the surface make this photo a cut above your average salty photo. It almost looks like an old video-game, in a good way.
The subject in the photo is perfectly placed in the frame, and the sky-to-ground ratio really draws the eye in. The limited amount of color in this photo really makes the nuanced peachy-pink sky pop. All this combined makes a photo that looks great even at thumbnail size.
