EVEN ON FIRST GLANCE, THIS PHOTO BY DAN PARRATT, IS NOT AS MUNDANE AS THE SUBJECT MATTER SUGGESTS, In a great way, there’s something very painterly about this composition, and I also realized that it is very appropriate for a Thanksgiving photo pick.
There’s just something about the lighting. It has a rich softness and detail to it that really drew me into this photograph. I really love how the exposure allows me to see everything in this photo without taking away from the fact that it is night-time.
It reminds me, oddly enough, of how a neighborhood looks outside in the middle of the night when everything is covered with snow. It gives me a warm, Thanksgivingy or Christmassy vibe, and I like that, very much. Thanks, Dan!
