THE STARBUCKS TEAVANA DEFENSE WELLNESS BREWED TEA is one of Starbucks’ three new Wellness Teas, and it’s the only white tea of the bunch.

Let’s start with Starbucks’ description of the Teavana Defense Wellness Brewed Tea:
“Put your guard up with the Vitamin C found in this revitalizing blend of white tea, which includes notes of uplifting citrus and lemongrass”
- Here’s Teavana’s description:
- “Bolster your defense system with the positive powers of vitamin C, along with white tea and blackberry leaves, deliciously combined with notes of lime, pineapple and orange. Made with natural ingredients.”
- “Tasting Notes: Zesty orange, lemon & lemongrass with hints of cinnamon & ginger, softened with a white tea finish.”
My Recommendation
The Citrus Defender (a tea-lemonade drink featuring the Defense Wellness brewed tea) highlighted how well lemonade paired with the cinnamon in this tea, so if you’re drinking this at home, I’d recommend adding a little lemon.
My Experience
This tea is much more aromatic than it is flavorful. I tasted mostly cinnamon and lemongrass, with a tiny bit of orange peel. The overall flavor is extremely mild, and I couldn’t taste much of the tea itself, which isn’t surprising for a white tea. I like my tea strong, so I’d probably add an extra tea bag or two next time.
Verdict
This tea isn’t bad. Without additional lemon, this tea is, for me, basically a light cinnamon tea. If you want a lightly-spicy white tea in your life, give this a shot.
